To correctly operate a weeding basket on a machine of this type without the problem of the cutting knives stopping or slowing down when the other machine operations are used, a priority flow circuit needs to be fitted. The priority flow valve is installed into the feed line between the main hydraulic pump and main valve block, adjustments on the priority flow valve allow control of flow and pressure for the weeding basket, depending on customer preference the basket can either cut in one direction or with the addition of a directional valve have the option to reverse the knives to clear a blockage. If a latching control relay is fitted the knives can be started and kept running allowing the weeding operation to be continuous until the circuit is switched off.
